Jsem Robot made its way north of the border and had its kiester kicked by some classy Canadian kids.

At the Westlock Zone 2 Drama Festival, word is “People liked it so much that we actually got to perform the show twice instead of once like everyone else.”

To which I say, you don’t mess with the ‘Bot, everyone else.

New Play: Staging Life

My first play of 2012, “Staging Life”, is a short drama about a famous director who replays the scenes of her family life in her final days.

Unlike most of my recent works, there’s not a lot of comedy to be had here. Instead, it’s an abstract work about assessing the things that are important to us and how what we believe creates our realities.

It’s a companion piece to the more lighthearted “Dies“. (What is my world that something called “Dies” is lighthearted?) I’m attempting to create a series of short plays using the same age/sex actor sets.

As with most of my works, you can download it for free. You’re good enough to spend the time. You shouldn’t have to spend your money, too.

There are 7 roles in “Feng Shui for Cubists,” all men. Though this is a man’s world, there is very little male specific language, leaving room for females to be substituted. Junior copywriters Gruen and Cox are likely younger than 30 years old. McDonalds and Pulater, senior copywriters, are likely in their 30s and 40s. Leach, the middle manager, is in his 40s or 50s. The two CEOs, Trust of The Trust Corporation and Hlava, the head of advertising, are likely in their 60s.
